You will have the opportunity to learn and/or advance your skills necessary to operate/maintain water and wastewater treatment facilities and distribution systems with an industry leader, while working to work toward obtaining your C Well or Grade I license.

All training, safety equipment, tools, uniforms, boots and company vehicle are provided.

Essential Duties:
  • Performs scheduled plant inspections and serves as Operator in Responsible Charge of assigned systems.
  • Monitors gauges, meters and control panels; and controls variations and operating conditions of the treatment process; records readings.
  • Maintains all records pertaining to production, maintenance and treatment as required including reading charts, flow meters, and gauges to detect equipment malfunctions.
  • Collects samples and performs necessary chemical analysis in accordance with system sampling requirements.
  • Extracts samples and performs routine laboratory tests, documenting and certifying test results.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as requested related to the area of responsibility.
  • Must be available to work overtime and "on call" responsibilities as scheduled.
  • Responsible for addressing service orders pertaining to customer service, water distribution and/or collections system calls.
Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Water/Wastewater Certification not required; C well or Grade I Waste Water license a plus
  • A valid U.S. Driver's License

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills; communicate effectively with customers

  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Career Progression:
  • Facility Operator Trainee: FO Trainee – Will be required obtain a Class "C" Groundwater license from TCEQ within 18 months of employment.
  • Facility Operator I :
    Must currently possess a valid TCEQ Class "C" ground water license OR a valid TCEQ Class "C" Wastewater license required for the operation of water / wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Facility Operator II:
    Must currently possess a valid TCEQ Class "B" ground water license OR a valid TCEQ Class "B" Wastewater license required for the operation of water / wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Facility Operator III:
    Must possess a valid TCEQ Class "B" ground water license AND a valid TCEQ Class "B" Wastewater license required for the operation of water / wastewater treatment facilities
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
  • May be subject to extreme temperatures, noise, wet and/or humid conditions, mechanical, electrical, gas exposure hazards, fumes, dusts, mists, gases and /or poor ventilation atmospheric conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Working conditions include travel to work sites of Essential Utilities and/or other constituents.
  • Company vehicle provided for business purpose.
