Position: MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN LEAD

Brief Description

The Maintenance Technician Lead provides daily work directions to mechanics and electricians under the direction of the Maintenance Manager. The Maintenance Technician Lead is responsible for ensuring all safety policies, quality management systems, and departmental practices are followed.

Work Schedule

1st Shift 7:00 am - 7:00 am Monday-Friday, with overtime as required including weekend work.

Responsibilities
  • Provides daily work direction to maintenance and electrical technicians.
  • Ensures maintenance work is completed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Mentors and trains Level I and II technicians.
  • Completes more complex repairs, preventative maintenance, and trouble shoots issues on all equipment.
  • Coordinates planned work to minimize production disruptions.
  • Provides back-up department leadership when Maintenance Manager is unavailable.
  • Ensures maintenance employees always follow safety protocols.
  • Assist in implementation of reliability improvement projects.
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned, or apparent.
Requirements

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work process, and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate courtesy and tact with people in various positions and levels within the company
  • Must be capable of multi-tasking and working both as a team and independently
  • Must have effective time management skills
  • Must have general computer skills, ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints and is capable of accurately distinguishing colors
  • Must maintain a clean and safe workspace
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be dependable and have excellent attendance
  • Must be available to work overtime as needed; with little, to no notice
  • Must be able to pass a forklift, boom lift, scissor lift, a respirator fit test
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
Education And Experience
  • Two-year technical degree in maintenance related field or a combination of education experience.
  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Technician preferred
  • Plastic extrusion experience preferred
  • Forklift and Scissor lift maintenance experience preferred
  • Basic electrical knowledge preferred
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

Working conditions in the role of a Maintenance Technician may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, and risk of electric shock and non-hazardous chemical agents

Regularly
  • Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl,
  • Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls
  • Talk and hear to coordinate and operate equipment
  • Use of safety equipment as dictated by the work (safety glasses, safety shoes, respirators, face shields, hearing protection, gloves, etc.)
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts
Frequently
  • Lift and/or move up to 60 pounds
  • Work in temperature extremes, wet and/or humid conditions, with dust, fumes, airborne particles
Occasionally
  • Sit
  • Handle (with mechanical equipment) up to 250 pounds.
  • Exposure to noise levels above the OSHA action level requiring use of hearing protection
  • Work at elevated heights of approximately 30 feet
Other
  • Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
