Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC, headquartered in Dallas, is a regulated electricity transmission and distribution business that uses superior asset management skills to provide reliable electricity delivery to consumers. Oncor (together with its subsidiaries) operates the largest transmission and distribution system in Texas, delivering power to nearly 4 million homes and businesses and operating more than 145,000 miles of transmission and distribution lines in Texas.
This position focuses on the day to day maintenance and operation of aerial devices (bucket trucks, derrick trucks and cranes) in the Oncor fleet. The incumbents operate in a field service format – covering roughly a 100 square mile area where these aerial devices are located, including making repairs or inspections at the field locations. Each employee in this category utilizes a field service truck to carry tools, parts, and supplies to the various locations as the aerial devices are maintained.
Each employee has responsibility for approximately 150 aerial devices in their respective areas.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Able to read and understand hydraulic schematics.
- Able to read and understand electrical schematics.
- Diagnose maintenance requirements on aerial devices to determine needed repairs.
- Perform inspections on aerial devices and the hydraulic systems used to power those units.
- Perform repairs to aerial devices and the hydraulic systems used to power those units as a result of the inspections.
- Verify that repairs are successful by visual and operational tests on each unit after the repairs are complete.
- Effectively communicate the repairs made and results to the client / users.
- Provide feedback on specifications and equipment to management and supervision for future changes or modifications.
- Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.
Skills
- Good communication skills required to advise users regarding issues with aerial devices and the correct repair procedures.
Education and Experience
- High school Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
- Applicants with Fluid Power Society certification are encouraged to apply.
- Applicant must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) license or is able to obtain one in an acceptable time frame.
- Extensive knowledge of hydraulic systems/power fluid theory as it applies to the maintenance and operation of hydraulic aerial devices and associated equipment required.
- Applicants with an understanding of the basic American National Standards Institute (ANSI) regulations associated with aerial device operation are encouraged to apply.
- Incumbent must be able to work with a minimum of supervision at various field locations across the Oncor system.
Measures of Success
- Aerial devices operate with a minimum of down time.
- All aerial device maintenance is complete and up to date.
- Client / user feedback and satisfaction level is good.
