Position Overview

We are seeking experienced
Class A CDL drivers
for an exciting opportunity supporting railroad emergency response and track-related operations, including the remedying of train derailments throughout the region.

This position is responsible for the safe loading, unloading, transportation, and operation of equipment and materials to and from job sites. The Equipment Laborer will also assist with rerailing operations, railroad car maintenance and repair, load adjustment/transfer activities, and track maintenance, repair, and new construction.

  • 40 hours guaranteed per week
  • Significant overtime available, with combined regular and overtime hours averaging
    60+ hours per week
  • 24/7 on-call availability
    required to respond to emergency service calls, including weekends and holidays
  • Monday–Friday,7:00 AM–4:00 PM
    is the standard schedule
  • Hours worked outside of Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM are paid at
    time-and-a-half overtime rates
  • Starting pay:$26.00/hour

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, and equipment in accordance with company policy and D.O.T. regulations.
  • Drive tractor-trailers to and from job sites while inspecting loads and machinery being transported.
  • Verify transportation permits to ensure specifications for overweight and oversize loads/equipment are accurate.
  • Participate in daily work-plan discussions to promote safety and efficiency.
  • Actively participate in daily safety briefings.
  • Move, stage, load, and unload materials and equipment for rerailing, load adjustment/transfer, track maintenance, track repair, and new track construction.
  • Reload equipment and materials for safe transportation following completion of assignments.
  • Participate in site cleanup and maintain an organized work area.
  • Assist with the assembly, inspection, and operation of cranes and other heavy equipment.
  • Operate equipment according to standard operating procedures while following all applicable safety rules and regulations.
  • Assist with rigging and connecting chains, cables, and winches during derailment response operations.
  • Operate equipment with constant awareness of surroundings and coworkers to prevent unsafe situations.
  • Operate cranes, backhoes, grapple trucks, dump trucks, excavators, and other heavy equipment as qualified.
  • Perform work associated with specialty lifting, rerailing, load transfer, track maintenance/repair, grading, railroad construction, and related activities.
  • Work with hydraulic tools, welding and cutting torches, electrical tools, and common hand tools.
  • Continuously monitor equipment and vehicles to minimize downtime and maintain operational readiness.
  • Perform and document minor equipment and vehicle servicing, referring more complex mechanical issues to the appropriate manager or foreman.
  • Participate in the disassembly and loading of cranes and other equipment at the completion of job assignments.
  • Restock vehicles and equipment with necessary parts, components, and supplies upon returning to the home base.
  • Sort scrap materials and place them in designated locations.
  • Remain flexible and work-ready to perform tasks for other departments or divisions as needed to meet business needs and customer expectations.
  • Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain vehicles, equipment, and work areas by removing debris and trash and keeping tools and equipment organized.
