Job Purpose:
The Fort Worth Botanic Garden Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and enhancing the physical infrastructure and systems of a historic 120-acre botanic garden. This role ensures that the garden's facilities, grounds, and equipment operate efficiently and safely, providing an exceptional experience for visitors and supporting the preservation of the garden's legacy.

Knowledge and Skills Required
- Basic knowledge of building systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Proficiency with plumbing skills not requiring a license to perform.
- Proficiency with maintenance tools, equipment, and machinery, including troubleshooting and repair techniques.
- Basic understanding of historic preservation practices and their application in maintaining heritage structures.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve maintenance issues efficiently.
- Organizational and time management skills to prioritize and handle multiple tasks effectively.
Additional Job Requirements
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in varying weather conditions and terrains.
- Successfully pass a physical exam to assess whether the individual can perform the duties of the position with or without accommodation.
- Valid driver's license.
- Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and workplace policies consistently.
- Basic computer and mobile phone app skills sufficient for benefits enrollment, time reporting, and electronic communication.
- Be adaptable and flexible to changing schedules including occasional weekends and evenings.
- Ability to support and participate in FWBG public exhibitions, events and holiday work to support events or respond to emergencies.
- Every FWBG employee is expected to possess and be willing to use a mobile device for timekeeping and business communications via calls/texts/emails/Teams' messages.
