Job Summary

The Court Reporter performs senior professional level duties on a day-to-day basis to achieve the short- and long-term goals of the work group.

  • Documents, maintains, and preserves required records and statistics as it pertains to departmental operations.
  • Ensures compliance with any or all applicable laws, statutes, and regulations; policies, and may update staff or work group on applicable changes.
  • Recommends and/or develops departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains and updates files.
  • Manages special projects as directed.
  • Stenographically records testimony of all court proceedings as requested by attorney(s) and/or the Court.
  • Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of the business as assigned or required.
  • QUALIFICATIONS
    • TO APPLY, must have an Associate’s degree + three (3) full-time years of related work experience. -OR-
    • TO APPLY, must have a High School Diploma or GED + five (5) full-time years of related work experience.
    • TO APPLY, must have and maintain a current certification by the State of Texas as a certified shorthand reporter (CSR). A CSR license is issued by the Texas Supreme Court upon completion of Court Reporting School and testing by the Texas Court Reporters Certification Board.

A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.

    While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, walk, climb, stoop, lift, push and pull.
