We are Lockheed Martin The Integrated System Evaluation team is seeking a Senior C++ / Rust Developer to design, build, and optimize high-performance, low-latency systems that power our core products. This role is ideal for an experienced software engineer who thrives in performance-critical environments and enjoys owning architecture, reliability, and scalability end-to-end. What you'll do:
- Architect, design, and implement high-performance systems in C++ and/or Rust
- Optimize for performance, memory usage, and concurrency
- Develop scalable, resilient services in distributed environments
- Lead technical design discussions and code reviews
- Improve CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and observability
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, Dev Ops, and QA
- Mentor mid-level and junior engineers
- Drive best practices in systems design and reliability
- Participate in architectural decision-making and long-term roadmap planning

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related discipline
- 12+ years of professional software engineering experience
- 5+ years of modern C++ experience OR 3+ years of production-grade Rust experience

- Experience with Linux-based systems

- Deep understanding of:

- Multithreading and concurrency models - Memory management and performance optimization - Networking (TCP/IP, gRPC, REST, Web Sockets, etc) - Data structures and algorithms
- Strong de-bugging and profiling skills
- Experience building large-scale or performance-critical systems

- Experience with distributed systems architecture

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
- Open-source contributions in C++ or Rust ecosystems
- GUI Frameworks: .Net, Qt 4/5/6
Security Clearance Statement:

The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
