IT Senior Developer

Job Summary

Department:
Information Technology.
The IT Senior Developer is a senior level role responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of RPG ILE applications running on an AS/400 platform. Working closely with other developers under the guidance of the IT Director, the purpose of this role is to add on to and/or build out software solutions that manage our daily business operations.

• Designing, coding / developing, and performing acceptance testing of all new and existing integrations written on the AS/400 system.
• Troubleshooting and resolving system issues, bugs, and other system defects.
• Creating technical and user documentation.
• Recording and logging asks in a project management software.
• Participating in code walkthroughs, testing, and migration.
• Efficiently managing projects and tasks that may have overlapping timelines.
• Participating in weekly programming meetings to work out specific development plans.

• Associates degree and extensive knowledge of the AS/400 (iSeries) platform, including RPG I-IV, RPG Free, ILE, CL, and CLLE.
• Experience in application development, complex code development, application testing, and component design.
• Proficiency with Subfiles and Display files.
• Experience with SQL and DB2 databases.
• Experience with data transmission technologies: REST API, ODBC, DB2 Web Query, FTP/SFTP, data transfer to Excel/CSV, etc.
• Experience creating XLS/CSV reports.
• Familiarity with Integrated File Systems.
• Project management experience.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and convert needs into technical concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
• Highly communicative and interpersonal skills.

• Transportation industry experience.
• Experience with Python, Java, Web Services, APIs, and VS Code.

• Developing and coding AS400 RPGLE and RPG Free.
• RDi.
• SQL DB2.
• Troubleshooting.
• Design.
• Project Management.

10+ years of AS400 development experience.
