About the Role:
The On-Demand Paratransit Operator Trainee plays a crucial role in providing safe and reliable transportation services to individuals with disabilities or mobility challenges. This position involves learning to operate specialized vehicles while adhering to all safety regulations and company policies. Trainees will gain hands-on experience in navigating routes efficiently and assisting passengers with boarding and disembarking. The ultimate goal is to ensure that all passengers receive respectful and dignified service, contributing to their independence and quality of life.
Successful completion of the training program will prepare candidates for a rewarding career in the transportation industry, where they can make a positive impact in their community.
Responsibilities:
* Participate in training sessions to learn the operation of paratransit vehicles and safety protocols.
* Assist passengers with disabilities in boarding and disembarking from vehicles, ensuring their comfort and safety.
* Learn to navigate designated routes and respond to on-demand transportation requests efficiently.
* Maintain accurate records of trips, including passenger information and vehicle inspections.
* Collaborate with dispatchers and other team members to ensure timely and effective service delivery.
Skills:
The required skills for this position include strong communication abilities, which are essential for interacting with passengers and understanding their needs. Attention to detail is crucial for maintaining accurate trip records and ensuring vehicle safety. Time management skills will be utilized daily to navigate routes efficiently and respond to on-demand requests promptly. Preferred skills, such as customer service experience, will enhance the trainee's ability to provide exceptional service and build rapport with passengers.

Minimum Qualifications:
* Valid driver's license for at least three (3) years.
* Not more than one (1) moving violation within the last three (3) years.
* At least 18 years old.
* Pass written portion of CDL B permit with passenger endorsement by second week of training.
* Ability to pass motor vehicle and criminal background check, drug test, and physical.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Previous experience in customer service or transportation roles.
* Familiarity with local streets and neighborhoods.
* Basic knowledge of mobility aids and assistance techniques.
PAY PROGRESSION
Training - $21.00
After Training- $22.50
Start of Second year - $24.00
Start of Third year - $26.00
Start of Fourth year - $30.92
* applicants that are hired with a CDL w/passenger endorsement will go to $24/hr after completion of training.
