DescriptionSUMMARY:
The Light Twin Instructor Pilot will, as part of a flight operations team, provide instruction and check rides within the Federal Aviation Administration's established multi-engine/single-engine Event Based Currency Program as well as providing recurrent training in both the PA-44 and CE 172 aircraft.
- Provide flight training and checking in the PA-44 and CE-172 aircraft.
- Conduct pre-flight and post-flight briefings covering essential topics such as weather, route of flight, departure procedures, normal/emergency procedures, and tasks to be accomplished.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of the aircraft systems, avionics, normal, and emergency procedures.
- Conduct all assigned instructional activities with an emphasis on safety, in accordance with our Safety Management System program.
- As Pilot-in-Command, apply the principles of Crew Resource Management.
- Utilize teamwork, multitasking, task prioritization, effective communication, and time management skills.
- Complete flight-related forms as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Individuals must successfully complete an initial training program and check ride, and annually thereafter complete recurrent training.
Education and ExperienceB.S. in Aviation preferred or a related field, with two years of closely related experience, or High School Diploma and Technical School training, with two years of closely related experience.
Skills and KnowledgeAllen’s provided pilots/instructors must successfully conform to the established standards required by the FAA and Allen will ensure each instructor pilot has at a minimum the following flight certifications and hours.
Flight Time and Certification Requirements- Minimum of 400 total flight time hours
- Minimum of 200 PIC time hours
- Minimum of 100 AMEL time hours
- Minimum of 50 AMEL dual given hours
- Flight instruction experience within the last 24 months
- All instructors must maintain at least a second‑class medical certificate
- Experience with the Garmin 500 and 1000 avionics preferred
- Valid CFI, MEI, and CFII certifications required
Skills and Abilities
- Proven problem‑solving skills
- Strong organizational and team communication habits
- Must possess or be able to obtain a FAA security clearance
- Must have good communication skills, both oral and written
- Able to sit and work at the controls of an aircraft for extended periods
- Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis
- Able to perform general flight operations activities on a daily basis
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
- COVID Vaccine required
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Flights are conducted in the vicinity of the DFW class B airspace.
