Position Information TxDOT Fort Worth District is looking for a motivated and driven Transportation Maintenance Crew Chief to join the team at the Stephenville Maintenance Office. This exciting entry-level leadership opportunity allows you to play a vital role in maintaining safe and reliable roadways while building a rewarding career with TxDOT. In this position, you will coordinate personnel, equipment, and materials for roadway maintenance projects, work closely with the Maintenance Section Supervisor, and help lead daily operations that make a direct impact on the traveling public.

Leads a crew of transportation maintenance technicians and equipment operators performing skilled transportation maintenance activities. Reports to a maintenance section supervisor and assists in administration of the maintenance section. Work requires responding to emergency notification on an as needed basis. Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

• Assists during accidents and emergency weather situations to sand bridges and roads and put up warning signs, and
  organize response of crews
• Assists in administration of the maintenance section
• Estimates and gathers materials and equipment necessary to complete assignments
• Inspects roads while en route to and from job site and reports problems to supervisors
• Maintains records on materials and equipment used and employee time sheets
• Operates light and heavy equipment.
• Oversees the work of designated maintenance inspectors and sign technicians
• Performs some maintenance and repair on equipment and trains crew members on the use of equipment
