Overview
Procter & Gamble (P&G) is seeking entry-level Warehouse Automation Technicians to join the warehouse distribution and customer fulfillment center team in Wilmer, TX (20 miles south of Dallas). The location is off I-45 at Exit 269. This role involves operating equipment, troubleshooting, performing preventive maintenance, controlling processes from a computer, and maintaining accurate records and data as part of a work team focused on keeping the operation flowing and meeting performance goals.
Responsibilities- Operate automated distribution processes and equipment; troubleshoot faults and support maintenance activities.
- Monitor and control processes from computer systems; maintain accurate data and records.
- Advance through growing levels of skill in the automation technology used in the distribution center.
- Support the Automated Layer Picking System (ALPS): resolve faults, reset conveyors/cranes, restack products after spills, and address pallet issues.
- Support Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) systems: recover AGVs that error out, clean, and determine when to take AGVs out of service.
- 18 years of age or older; high school diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
- Ability to wear required safety PPE (eye protection, ear protection, safety shoes).
- Willingness to work any shift, including rotating shifts; ability to work weekends and holidays.
- Reliability, eagerness to learn new systems, sense of urgency, and bias for action.
- Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams; strong written and verbal communication; basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and problem-solve within manufacturing/materials handling environments; experience with warehouse management systems (e.g., JDA/Blue Yonder/Red Prairie or SAP) is a plus.
- Physical ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs; push/pull up to 50 lbs; tolerate standing, walking, and working in varying temperatures; use of basic hand tools; ability to access confined/enclosed areas.
- Most work schedules are 12-hour shifts with shift differentials:
Fixed Day (6:00 AM – 6:30 PM) or Fixed Night (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM) or Rotating Day/Night shifts (rotation every 2 or 4 weeks, department dependent). - Starting pay: $22.50 per hour; 12-hour shift differentials range from $2.00 to $3.50 per hour.
