Early Career Video Journalist

In this position, funded by The Philanthropist Journal, you will focus on issues affecting rural communities, producing three articles, videos, and audio segments. This fellowship is specifically designed for early-career journalists from Black and Indigenous backgrounds, offering mentorship and collaboration with experienced editors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Pitch and create three detailed story ideas

• Build relationships and trust with various sources

• Write and edit articles to publication standards

• Shoot and edit compelling videos for multiple platforms

• Produce audio segments for the local talk show

Requirements:

• Background in journalism or media preferred

• Demonstrated writing and communication skills

• Capacity to independently manage time and tasks

• Familiarity with multimedia tools and editing software

• Ability to travel within the Peace River region
