Salary$50.07 - $56.75 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications in accordance with the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation, and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay. Temporary faculty have the option to enroll in the College Pension Plan, with employer-matched contributions. The Christmas closure period is unpaid time off for temporary employees.
DescriptionThe instructor will deliver Skilled Trades BC (STBC) Welding training to both dual credit students and adult learners, ensuring all Welder program objectives outlined in the STBC Program Outline are met. Instruction will include all levels of the Welding program, from Foundation through Level 4.
Required Qualifications- Welder Certificate of Qualification with Interprovincial Red Seal Endorsement
- Minimum of five years of industry experience working in industry as a journeyperson Welder
- BC Pressure Welding Performance (PWP) 7 and 10 certifications, or equivalent recognized pressure welding qualifications
- Diverse industry experience, including code work such as shop fabrication, heavy construction, and maintenance or repair, in accordance with American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) or Canadian Standards Association (CSA) W59 standards
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and contribute positively within a post‑secondary environment
- A supportive, student‑centred approach with a strong commitment to student success
- Previous experience instructing the Welding curriculum as prescribed by Skilled Trades BC
- Completion of the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program (PIDP) or an equivalent adult education credential, or a demonstrated willingness to obtain one
