Experienced Utility Maintenance Operator in Fort St. John

The City of Fort St. John seeks a Utility Maintenance Operator III. This full-time opportunity offers a chance to directly impact municipal utility maintenance and repair efforts.

As a member of the Public Works - Utilities Department, your role will involve a mix of equipment operation, repair tasks, and customer communication. You will report directly to the Utilities Superintendent and may supervise junior staff. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining city standards for water and sewer services, enhancing both public safety and community satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Repair and maintain water and sewer utility systems

• Document maintenance and inspection activities

• Operate light to medium-sized maintenance equipment

• Address resident inquiries about service disruptions

• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards

Requirements:

• Seven years of experience in municipal maintenance

• BC Water Distribution System Operator Class III

• Completion of Grade 12 education or GED

• Valid Class 5 BC Drivers' License

• Ability to perform heavy manual tasks
