Expert Mechanic

Position: Expert Mechanic at City of Dawson Creek
Join the City of Dawson Creek as a First Class Mechanic responsible for maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment. Utilize your mechanical skills to ensure operational excellence and compliance in public works.

This position, reporting to the Public Works Manager, is ideal for a BC or Red Seal Journeyman. You will perform extensive mechanical repairs, mentor apprentices, and maintain records following city and safety regulations. Your expertise will drive the reliability of our public works equipment and vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute complete mechanical repairs and adjustments

• Mentor apprentice mechanics during repair tasks

• Maintain vehicles and equipment in good working order

• Initiate and complete garage work orders

• Supply and utilize own tools for repairs

Requirements:

• Grade 12 education or equivalency diploma

• BC or Red Seal Journeyman with 2+ years experience

• Experience in heavy-duty and automotive systems

• Air Brake Repair certification

• Authorized Inspector for Commercial Vehicle Inspection
