This is a dual-site position that serves both our Arcata and Fortuna locations. The selected candidate will split their work time between the two sites based on operational needs. This position requires regular travel between our Arcata and Fortuna sites. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, between 8 am and 5 pm.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Transportation Manager, the Transportation Supervisor oversees the daily operations of transportation services to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable service delivery. This position provides direct supervision, coaching, and support to transportation staff; coordinates fleet maintenance and regulatory compliance; monitors daily transportation operations; and collaborates with program staff to meet participant transportation needs. The Transportation Supervisor promotes continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and compliance with all applicable federal, state, and organizational requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises the daily activities of transportation drivers, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable transportation services.

Coordinates daily transportation operations by working collaboratively with drivers, dispatchers, program staff, and other departments to address operational issues and ensure continuity of service.

Identifies operational challenges, resolves transportation-related concerns, and recommends process improvements to enhance service quality, efficiency, and participant satisfaction.

Assists with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, coaching, and evaluating transportation employees.

Reviews employee time-off requests and coordinates staffing coverage to maintain service levels.

Assists in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of departmental policies, procedures, and operational practices.

Maintains knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, and organizational regulations and ensures employees receive appropriate training and guidance to maintain compliance.

Completes participant transportation assessments and related documentation in accordance with program requirements.

Reviews driver vehicle inspection reports and logs, coordinates corrective actions with the Transportation Mechanical Lead, and verifies identified deficiencies have been resolved.

Coordinates preventive maintenance, repairs, and required vehicle safety inspections to maintain fleet safety, reliability, and operational readiness.

Monitors vehicle condition and utilization and provides recommendations regarding vehicle replacement, disposal, and fleet improvements.

Ensures compliance with Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and other applicable federal, state, and local transportation regulations, including vehicle inspections, licensing, and registration requirements.

Maintains accurate transportation records and documentation within applicable software systems and agency databases.

Attends required meetings, trainings, conferences, and professional development opportunities.

Represents the Transportation Department in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary meetings, including PACE Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and Adult Day Health Care (ADHC) team meetings, and communicates transportation-related updates through the electronic medical record and other designated systems.

Investigates transportation-related incidents, accidents, and safety concerns; prepares required documentation; and reports findings and recommendations to the Transportation Manager.

Monitors transportation performance, identifies trends, and implements corrective actions to improve safety, service quality, and operational effectiveness.

Fosters a positive, accountable, and collaborative work environment by motivating employees, encouraging professional development, and promoting organizational values.

Assists the Transportation Manager with planning, implementing, and evaluating transportation services, departmental initiatives, and operational improvements.

Performs the duties of a Driver or Transportation Dispatcher, as operational needs require.

EDUCATION &/or

EXPERIENCE:

Required:

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Two (2) years of experience in logistics, transportation, scheduling, coordination, or a similar field.

One (1) year of leadership experience, preferably in transportation, healthcare, or a similar field.

One (1) year experience working with a frail or elderly population.

Preferred:

One (1) year of experience working in a health care setting.

Knowledge of Department of Transportation Safety Regulations and FMCSA Compliance.
