Hire Art is helping our client find a Studio Engineer to join its dynamic team and play a key role in shaping the future of autonomous vehicle design.
In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with design and engineering teams to translate creative concepts into functional, production-ready vehicles. You’ll be an integral part of the studio process, ensuring vehicles not only achieve the intended design vision but also meet rigorous standards for safety, performance, and manufacturability.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative, detail-oriented engineer who thrives in studio environments and enjoys bridging aesthetics and engineering constraints.
Responsibilities- Enable studio design concepts with balanced, production-feasible engineering solutions.
- Define and manage engineering criteria to support design intent, surface development, and program requirements.
- Partner with industrial design, engineering, and digital modeling teams to ensure aesthetic and technical alignment.
- Lead technical reviews and represent the studio in cross-functional discussions, resolving day-to-day design and engineering issues.
- Review, verify, and release criteria-compliant surfaces and production-intent math in line with program schedules.
- Track surface development, part readiness, and engineering issues through program gates, supporting mockups and prototype builds.
- Bachelor of Science degree in a technical discipline
- 5+ years of studio engineering experience, with at least 8 years of related professional experience
- Strong understanding of automotive engineering theory and vehicle design principles
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across teams
- Ability to understand and integrate complex systems
- Familiarity with automotive manufacturing processes
- Proficiency in CATIA (V6 preferred)

This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via Hire Art. It will be onsite and available to candidates who are local to the Foster City, CA area.
