Overview
Expected compensation: 79.50 USD Per Hour. Hire Art is helping our client find a Hardware Engineer, Test Development, to design, document, and execute component- and system-level hardware testing. In this role, you’ll lead development testing on early prototypes and qualification testing on modules intended for vehicle deployment. Projects range from interface compliance testing to the design of purpose-built test tools and infrastructure.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on, curious engineer who enjoys building test solutions from the ground up, working across disciplines, and owning test execution from concept through reporting.
- Develop and execute component- and system-level hardware test plans for prototype and vehicle-intent modules.
- Design and build test setups, including block diagrams, bills of materials, and detailed test procedures.
- Develop custom test assets such as load simulators, test harnesses, and Python-based automation scripts.
- Use electrical and environmental lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, VNAs, electronic loads, and environmental chambers.
- Lead and support test infrastructure projects by coordinating with procurement, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Draft and present test plans, design reviews, test readiness reviews, and data reviews.
- Review and contribute to documentation releases related to standards, designs, and risk assessments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
- 4+ years of relevant professional engineering experience
- 2+ years of experience in electronics development or testing
- Hands-on experience testing electronic systems in automotive, aerospace, or vehicle-related environments
- Experience using design tools for electronics and mechanical systems
- PCBA design experience (Altium preferred)
- 3D modeling experience (3
DEXPERIENCE or CATIA preferred) - Experience using lab equipment such as environmental chambers, oscilloscopes, electronic loads, VNAs, TDRs, and spectrum analyzers
- Experience working in Ubuntu/Linux environments
- Proficiency in Python for test development or automation
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Engineering or a related field
- Participation in competitive engineering teams or programs (e.g., SAE, FIRST, DARPA)
- Foundational knowledge of systems and networking concepts (system architecture, memory hierarchy, storage, LANs, routing)
- Experience with Ethernet switching chipsets (e.g., Broadcom, Marvell), PCIe, or CAN compliance testing
- Experience with simulation tools (ANSYS preferred)
- Familiarity with common bus protocols (SPI, I2C, MDIO)
- Experience with data acquisition systems (UEI and/or Keysight preferred)
- Familiarity with requirements and test case management tools (Polarion preferred)
- Experience using Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence
