Senior Engineering Technician

Overview

The City of Foster City is looking for a dedicated Senior Engineering Technician to join our Public Works Department. The Senior Engineering Technician is responsible for a wide range of engineering tasks, including performing field surveys, construction support, project inspections, data mapping, and traffic engineering activities. The role also involves receiving, reviewing, and processing transportation and encroachment permit applications. This is an advanced-level position expected to manage complex and broader ranging projects with minimal supervision.

The successful candidate will independently coordinate engineering support functions and collaborate effectively with internal staff and external stakeholders.

Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A typical way would be:

Graduation from high school or the equivalent; college courses in engineering or drafting desirable.

Four years of full-time, paid experience in municipal engineering, including drafting and surveying. Up to two years of college education in engineering or drafting may be substituted for the required full-time experience on a year for year basis.
