Machine Learning Automation Engineer

The System Behavior Analysis team is responsible for helping understand and triage failures encountered by our robots on the road. Within System Behavior Analysis, the Behavioral Automated Triage team is a subgroup focused on building end-to-end machine learning, deep learning, and data pipelines for improving our triage workflows.

As a Machine Learning Automation Engineer on the Behavioral Automated Triage team, you will interrogate data at scale, perform data engineering, leverage deep learning models (i.e. foundation models and language models), and respond to the evolving data needs at Zoox.

In this role, you will:

• Design, develop, and improve machine learning/deep learning-based algorithms on large-scale data to automate test and triage work processes
• Work across various technical disciplines involving data science, machine learning, autonomous drive planning, and quality assurance
• Build tools and infrastructure to monitor the performance of your algorithms in production and use those tools to improve their performance continuously

Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in STEM field and 5+ years of experience involving machine learning, natural language processing, or deep learning
• A strong background in algorithms, data structures, and data manipulation
• Proficiency in one of the following languages:
  Python, Scala, Pyspark
• Experience with Deep Learning packages like PyTorch, Tensor Flow, and Hugging Face transformers
• Experience with cloud computing platforms and frameworks such as Data Bricks and AWS

Bonus

Qualifications:

• PhD in STEM field and 2+ years of research experience involving machine learning, natural language processing, or deep learning are highly preferred
• Experience with data visualization tools like Looker/Dash/Databricks Dashboards
• Experience in autonomous driving, robotics, or academic science

Compensation

There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $165,000 to $205,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance.

The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
