About the OpportunityOur client, a leader in autonomous vehicle technology, is developing fully autonomous vehicles and the supporting ecosystem required to bring this technology to market ting at the intersection of robotics, machine learning, and design, they aim to provide the next generation of mobility‑as‑a‑service in urban environments.
As an Equipment Engineer
, you will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and sustaining the equipment for vehicle service centers. You will help transition the organization towards being a more production‑ready company by implementing OEM‑level tools and processes. This is a high‑impact role where you can manifest your creativity and significantly impact the operation and sustainability of the final product.
- Develop and implement automotive assembly equipment and tools.
- Identify tooling and equipment design opportunities by aligning with teams on proposed process changes and improvements.
- Lead the hands‑on design and prototyping of equipment (hand tools, jigs, fixtures, automated equipment) using CAD and supporting programs.
- Manage manufacturing partners that support equipment development (design, automation, fixtures, workstations, etc.).
- Work cross‑functionally to fully develop tooling and equipment requirements.
- Evaluate part and assembly design, from concept to design for manufacturing introduction, for hand clearance, tooling clearance, ergonomics, and feasibility of maintenance and repair.
- Work with equipment suppliers (internal and external) to solve ergonomic and assembly issues.
- Continuously update equipment specifications and documentation.
- Develop equipment PMs and ensure their completion, assisting with maintenance and troubleshooting tooling‑related issues.
- Provide comprehensive time/cost modeling that showcases opportunities to drive product and process change to support reduction in cost or complexity of repair.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in a mechanical engineering or similar role within a product design and manufacturing environment.
- Experience with developing automation specifications, tooling and fixture design, and lift assists/industrial manipulators.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience with presenting cost‑analysis of new processes and equipment.
- Experience with Catia, Solidworks, AutoCAD, and SAP is a plus.
