Design & Development - Automotive Thermal Systems; HVAC, Heat Exchangers & Cooling Components

Overview

Location:

Foster City, California, United States

• Design and develop thermal systems and components including HVAC modules, ducts, hoses, heat exchangers and related cooling components.
• Perform thermal analysis and simulations to validate system performance under various operating conditions.
• Work on and design plastic and metal components, including material selection, design for manufacturability (DFM), and tooling considerations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (CAE, manufacturing, suppliers) to optimize designs.
• Support, build and coordinate prototype builds, testing, and validation of thermal systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve thermal performance issues during development and production phases.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical documentation.
• Release the designed parts as part of the design and development activities.

• Familiarity with automotive development cycles and standards.
• Knowledge of DFMEA, DVP&R, and validation processes.
• Experience working with suppliers and cross-functional global teams.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in automotive thermal systems or related domain.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, heat exchangers, and air duct design.
• Experience working with plastic components and injection molding processes.
• Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, NX, or Solid Works).
• Understanding of thermal and fluid dynamics principles.
• Experience with CAE tools for thermal analysis is a plus.
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
