Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, industrial design, program management, and service teams, you will identify opportunities to reduce repair complexity, improve fleet uptime, and optimize maintenance processes. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanical engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and improving operational performance through thoughtful product design.

Key Responsibilities

Design for Serviceability (DFS)

  • Partner with cross‑functional engineering teams to drive Design for Serviceability (DFS) initiatives throughout product development.
  • Evaluate components and assemblies for accessibility, ergonomics, tooling clearance, ease of repair, and serviceability.
  • Review product designs from concept through production to improve maintainability and reduce repair complexity.
  • Identify specialized tooling requirements and collaborate with tooling teams to develop service tools.
  • Develop cost and repair‑time analyses to identify opportunities for product improvements and service optimization.
  • Collaborate with technical writing teams to create and maintain repair procedures and service documentation.
  • Develop service part release strategies and maintain the Service Bill of Materials (BOM) to support spare parts planning.

Inspection & Maintenance

  • Develop and maintain inspection and preventive maintenance programs for operational and test fleet vehicles.
  • Analyze maintenance effectiveness and recommend process improvements that increase fleet reliability and reduce vehicle downtime.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on maintenance efficiency and operational excellence.
  • Partner with technicians, engineering teams, and program managers to implement maintenance strategies.
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with applicable industry standards and safety regulations.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 4–6 years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably within a service engineering, automotive, or product development environment
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles and Design for Serviceability (DFS)
  • Experience evaluating product designs for repairability, maintainability, and manufacturability
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software (CATIA experience is highly preferred)
  • Experience supporting complex mechanical systems throughout the product lifecycle
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently while collaborating across cross‑functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the automotive, electric vehicle, robotics, or autonomous vehicle industry
  • Experience with ERP systems for maintenance planning and operational data management
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and fleet operations
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, prototype, or service engineering organizations
  • Familiarity with inspection planning, tooling development, and spare parts management
