We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer – Serviceability to support the development of next-generation autonomous vehicle technology. This role focuses on Design for Serviceability (DFS), ensuring products are designed for efficient maintenance, repair, and long-term reliability throughout the product development lifecycle.
Responsibilities- Drive Design for Serviceability (DFS) initiatives across product development programs.
- Evaluate components and assemblies for accessibility, ergonomics, tooling clearance, hand clearance, and ease of replacement.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, industrial design, and prototyping teams to improve product serviceability.
- Develop and maintain service Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support spare parts planning.
- Support new product builds and provide design recommendations to improve maintainability.
- Identify requirements for specialized service tools and support the design and development of custom tooling.
- Perform cost and repair-time analyses to identify opportunities for reducing maintenance complexity and service costs.
- Define serviceability and reliability requirements for new products.
- Partner with technical writers to develop repair procedures and service documentation.
- Work alongside field service teams to evaluate products in real-world environments and incorporate service feedback into future designs.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 4–6 years of mechanical engineering experience in a product development or manufacturing environment.
- Experience taking products through the complete development lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Serviceability (DFS).
- Experience with product and process validation.
- Tooling and equipment design experience.
- Strong documentation and technical communication skills.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software (CATIA is a plus).
- Ability to independently manage engineering projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with autonomous vehicles, automotive systems, or complex electromechanical products.
- Knowledge of sensors, camera systems, or compute hardware integration.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and service operations.
