Test Engineer, Wireless / 5G, Systems Engineer
As a Modem System Test Engineer, you will analyze wireless performance for various use‑cases for Client's Applications. Collect and process test data for issue debugging with modem logs. Develop, document, execute & debug system‑level validation tests for network‑connected devices. This includes mission‑critical 4G‑LTE, 5G‑, Wi‑Fi, and GNSS wireless interfaces, integrated with Client's on‑vehicle and cloud‑based networks.
You will collaborate with FW engineers to ensure performance meets quality of service targets and other key metrics including throughput, latency, jitter. You will be hands‑on to develop test cases and execute test frameworks for prototypes and commercial system releases as well as conduct tests in the field, ensuring network compliance with international regulations. We seek an expert, enthusiastic, innovative, and self‑starting individual to join our team.
Responsibilities:- Analyze 4G‑LTE, 5G‑, Wi‑Fi, GNSS, Ethernet, and IP behavior internally and with partners. Identify root causes of failures, whether found internally or externally.
- Collaborate with Modem Vendor to discuss technical issues and drive them to closure.
- Be hands‑on and explore opportunities for improvement, relying on diagnostics, analytics, and lab/test equipment experiments.
- Generate Documentation
- Draft and present Test Plans, Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, and Data Reviews. Review and provide feedback on test plans and reports from suppliers. - Develop Test Infrastructure
- Select, procure, commission, and configure test cases on network emulators and related test equipment supplied by vendors such as Keysight or Rohde & Schwarz. Develop custom test assets, setups, and scripts to enable efficient testing, including scripts using Python and TTCN. Construct and maintain lab infrastructure, from fixed network test harnesses to RF cabling.
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a similar discipline with 8+ years of experience.
- Hands‑on experience configuring/programming wireless test platforms (Keysight, Rohde & Schwarz) and testing/troubleshooting modem development boards and prototypes.
- Expertise in 3
GPP 4G‑LTE / 5G‑ architecture, Wi‑Fi, Ethernet standards (IEEE 802.1AS, 802.11), and IP network protocols. Experience with coexistence between Wi‑Fi, Cellular and GNSS. - Ability to use modem analysis tools (e.g., QXDM, QCAT, PCAT, Shannon Tools, Wireshark) and analyze communication behavior.
- Solid understanding and experience with the interface, SA/NSA protocol, PHY and MAC layer features/functions, as well as RRC layer control and user plane functions and their log-masks for ease of debugging.
- Process/Tool familiarity with Requirement-Test Case management tools (Polarion preferred). Ubuntu operating system and Command Line Interface. Python scripting. Atlassian software products (Jira/Confluence).
- Test Asset or HIL knowledge is required.
- Consistent track record of independently leading a complete area of technology and driving product quality while working with cross‑functional teams in the field of Cellular, Wi‑Fi and GNSS validation.
