The Impact of a Sr. Lead UX Designer at Coupa

As a Sr. Designer on Coupa’s Supplier Experience team, you will own the design vision for the Transact pillar of the Coupa network, with a primary focus on how suppliers get paid. You will shape the end-to-end experience used by millions of suppliers working with the world’s largest buyers. This role goes beyond invoices and payments. It is about turning complex, high-stakes financial workflows into clear, intuitive experiences that build trust, reduce friction, and help suppliers manage cash flow with confidence.

You will act as both strategist and hands‑on designer, setting direction while working closely with product, engineering, and research to bring the experience to life.

What You'll Do
  • Design Strategy & Vision:
Define the end-to-end design strategy for the Transact pillar, including invoicing, payments, and order management. Translate business goals and platform constraints into a clear product vision that guides teams over time.
  • Experience Design for Complex Systems:
Lead the design of multi-party, global workflows, ensuring that financial, regulatory, and enterprise requirements feel seamless and understandable to suppliers.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership:
Partner closely with Product and Engineering leaders to shape roadmaps, define requirements, and make thoughtful tradeoffs. Advocate for the supplier perspective while balancing business and technical realities.
  • AI-Enabled Experiences:
Help define how AI supports the supplier experience, from agent-driven interactions to subtle, predictive moments that make the product feel proactive and supportive.
  • Hands-On Design Execution:
Produce high-quality flows, components, prototypes, interaction specs, and end-to-end service experience maps that align teams on how the supplier experience actually works. Set a high bar for craft through your own work.
  • User Research & Insight:
Lead and collaborate on research with a global range of suppliers, uncovering both emotional and functional pain points in B2B commerce and payments.
  • Design System Contribution:
Work with the Design Systems team to evolve shared patterns and components, ensuring the Transact experience scales across web and mobile and aligns with the broader supplier journey.
What You Will Bring to Coupa
  • 7+ years of product design experience designing complex B2B SaaS, Fin Tech, or marketplace products.
  • A proven ability to simplify complexity, demonstrated through work on high-stakes financial, operational, or logistical workflows.
  • Systems thinking, with an understanding of how data, money, and people move through an ecosystem.
  • Strong design craft, including expert-level Figma skills and experience contributing to mature design systems. You lead by example and raise the bar for those around you.
  • Clear communication and influence, with the ability to tell compelling product stories, collaborate across disciplines, and work effectively with engineering partners.
  • Builder mindset:
You are proactive and take initiative, work independently, and thrive in environments with ambiguity, ownership, and high standards.
