Title:Mapping Technician (x5)

Job Type:Contract

Contract Length:6 months

Pay Range:$40-45/hr

Start Date:ASAP

Location:Hybrid - Foster City, CA

About the Opportunity:

Our client, a leader in Autonomous Vehicle Technology, is looking for a skilled Mapping Technician to join their team for a 6 month engagement. This project involves monitoring mapping pipelines, coordinating with cross‑functional stakeholders, and ensuring the quality and delivery of high‑fidelity map data across multiple concurrent mapping initiatives. This is a high‑impact role that requires a self‑motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
  • Monitoring and validating data ingest and orchestration pipelines, ensuring smooth transitions between stages and escalating issues as needed.
  • Performing basic quality assurance to identify repeat errors and flag systemic issues impacting mapping output.
  • Prioritizing, curating, and managing releases for multiple concurrent mapping jobs, requiring coordination with roadmap managers and geosite stakeholders.
  • Maintaining a close working relationship with the maintenance team and triaging escalations related to map updates.
  • Communicating mapping progress, risks, and milestones to management and geosite teams.
  • Breaking down mapping areas using internal tools (e.g., MyMaps, Mapdash) and submitting mapping requests to Fleet Operations while managing scheduling, priority shifts, and timeline changes.
  • Collaborating with requesting stakeholders on mapping strategies for special locations, including PUDOs, test tracks, and sites requiring limited access.
  • Providing operational feedback on mapping pipelines, suggesting improvements, and identifying potential process gaps.
  • Inspecting new imagery tiles in ZRN Editor to validate readiness of maintenance updates and new geofence expansions.
Required

Skills & Experience:
  • Prior experience with mapping operations, data pipelines, or geospatial workflows is a bonus.
  • Deep expertise in strong attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy, validation, and operational readiness. This isn't a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple parallel efforts while adapting to shifting priorities (Time Management), and comfortable working independently while remaining aligned with broader team objectives (Autonomy).
  • Experience with working in a fast‑paced, operations‑driven environment with evolving priorities, and the ability to interpret mapping or spatial data to support decision‑making.
  • Strong communication skills to provide clear, concise status updates to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • W2 only (No C2C or 1099 contractors)
