Hire Art is helping an on‑demand, autonomous ride‑hailing company find an Applications Engineer to support the configuration, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) systems and engineering applications.
In this role, you’ll serve as a key onsite resource supporting internal engineering users and business stakeholders within a fast‑paced technical environment. You’ll help manage application configurations, workflows, reporting, integrations, and user support activities while partnering closely with infrastructure, engineering, and offshore support teams to maintain and improve critical engineering systems.
The ideal candidate is technically strong, customer‑focused, and comfortable supporting enterprise applications while making hands‑on configuration or scripting updates when needed.
As An Applications Engineer, You’ll- Serve as the onsite point of contact for ALM and engineering application support within the Foster City office.
- Partner directly with engineering users and stakeholders to troubleshoot issues, gather requirements, and provide application support.
- Support application configuration, workflow updates, permissions management, access changes, and production support activities.
- Assist with requirements management workflows, including drafting, approvals, signoff, release management, and supplier‑facing processes.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, live reports, and reporting solutions to support engineering and operational visibility.
- Support minor scripting, configuration, and technical fixes using Java, JavaScript, Velocity, Python, or related technologies.
- Collaborate with offshore resources and cross‑functional teams on tickets, enhancements, upgrades, and system improvements.
- Monitor application performance and support troubleshooting, issue escalation, and resolution activities.
- Participate in planned upgrades, maintenance activities, and deployments, including occasional scheduled weekend support.
- Evaluate and support new tools, integrations, and engineering system enhancements as business needs evolve.
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field preferred.
- 4‑5 years of experience in applications engineering, applications support, enterprise systems support, or related technical roles.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work directly with engineering users and internal stakeholders.
- Experience supporting configurable enterprise applications, workflows, or engineering systems.
- Technical foundation in scripting, programming, application configuration, or production support activities.
- Ability to troubleshoot user issues, workflow blockers, permissions problems, and system‑related support requests.
- Experience with Java, JavaScript, Python, Velocity, or similar scripting/programming languages.
- Ability to quickly learn new applications, workflows, and technical systems.
- Comfortable working in fast‑paced, highly collaborative startup environments.
- Ability to work onsite in Foster City at least four days per week.
- Familiarity with Polarion or similar ALM, PLM, or requirements management platforms.
- Knowledge of engineering workflows, approvals, signoff processes, and change control systems.
- Ability to build dashboards, live reports, or reporting workflows using Velocity scripting or similar tools.
- Exposure to SQL or No
SQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL. - Background supporting enterprise application upgrades, deployments, or integrations.
- Experience working within regulated industries such as automotive, aerospace, or medical device environments.

This is a full‑time, ongoing contract position staffed via Hire Art. The position is hybrid, requiring at least four days per week onsite, and is open to candidates local to the Foster City, CA area.
