Hire Art is helping an on‑demand, autonomous ride‑hailing company find an Application Administrator – Engineering Applications to manage, maintain, and optimize critical engineering and business applications that support product development and operations.
In this role, you will be responsible for administering enterprise applications across Windows, Linux, and AWS environments, ensuring system reliability, performance, security, and availability. You will partner with engineering, IT, and infrastructure teams to support application deployments, license management, cloud migrations, and ongoing operational improvements.
The ideal candidate has strong experience administering applications in both Windows and Linux environments, a solid understanding of AWS infrastructure, and a background supporting engineering applications and tools.
As a Application Administrator – Engineering Applications, You’ll- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain application software across Windows and Linux server environments.
- Monitor application health and performance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve complex production incidents.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), configuration guides, and application architecture documentation.
- Manage user access, security permissions, authentication, and application‑specific configurations.
- Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement preventative solutions.
- Manage software licensing, monitor license utilization, and provide usage metrics to business stakeholders.
- Coordinate application‑related infrastructure changes with internal teams and external vendors.
- Participate in planning and execution efforts to migrate on‑premises applications to AWS‑based environments.
- Support application integrations, upgrades, maintenance activities, and operational best practices.
- Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, security, and operations teams to ensure application reliability and scalability.
- 5+ years of experience as an Application Administrator, Systems Administrator, or in a similar technical role.
- Experience administering and supporting mission‑critical enterprise applications.
- Experience supporting engineering applications and tools, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and license management.
- Strong administration and troubleshooting experience in both Windows and Linux server environments.
- Working knowledge of AWS services and experience deploying or supporting applications in cloud environments.
- Proficiency in Power Shell, Bash, Python, or another scripting language for automation and system administration.
- Understanding of identity and access management technologies, including Azure AD, SAML, and SSL certificate management.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and experience interacting with databases such as SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with user administration, Active Directory, security concepts, networking, storage, virtualization, VDI environments, and backup technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience with engineering software platforms, product development tools, or CAD‑related applications.
- Experience with software asset management and license management platforms such as OpenLM or similar tools.
- Experience supporting cloud migration initiatives and hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Familiarity with enterprise monitoring, automation, and configuration management tools.

This is a full‑time, ongoing contract position staffed via Hire Art. It will be onsite, requiring four days per week onsite, and is available to candidates who are local to the Foster City, CA area.
