- Able to apply established organizational policies, and interpret, execute, and recommend modifications to department policies and procedures as needed.
- Familiarity with the technologies, strengths, and weaknesses of a wide variety of fine chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturers worldwide.
- Demonstrates an in‑depth understanding of the financial aspects of Supply Chain operations.
- Knowledge of multiple practices within Supply Chain to understand, coordinate, and communicate across competing demands.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in a related field and a BS or BA; OR
- 8+ years of relevant experience and a MA or MBA.
- Experience in a pharmaceutical operations/cGMP environment highly desirable.
- Experience purchasing custom chemicals, planning pharmaceutical development activities, and managing the third‑party synthesis of intermediates or active pharmaceutical ingredients.
- Work on problems of moderate to advanced complexity, evaluating intangible variables.
- Provide leadership, direction, and management of a team to support execution of the Supply Chain strategy.
- Supervise, train, guide, and perform performance management of department personnel.
- Create and maintain a positive working environment to ensure high productivity, employee engagement, and performance.
- Exercise independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for Supply Chain activities, ensuring all relevant regulatory requirements are met.
- Develop and implement strategies and goals for specific products or projects.
- Create and effectively communicate supplier, subcontractor, and vendor agreements and opportunities to the organization.
- Implement and maintain material and production control systems, policies, processes, and procedures to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements.
- Serve as liaison between the company and governmental or audit agencies as required.
- Review and/or implement changes to controlled documents and, if necessary, author sections of regulatory documents.
- Negotiate large contracts involving substantial financial amounts, monitoring cost, schedules, and performance.
- Drive cost savings through direct negotiation and other sourcing methods.
- Execute supplier agreements with Legal and internal clients to ensure terms and conditions comply with corporate and purchasing guidelines.
- Conduct formal business reviews with key suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to discuss performance on a regular basis.
- Manage outsourced manufacturing activities.
- Compile information from periodicals, catalogs, and other sources to stay informed on relevant market and competitor information.
- Coordinate multiple production schedules.
