Research Associate - Virology - Onsite

Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Research Associate - Virology for an Onsite position with a Global Biotechnology Company located in Foster City, CA. This is a 6+ month contract opportunity.

We are seeking a highly motivated, creative, and collaborative individual with a background in virology, cell-based biochemistry, or immunology. The successful candidate will investigate novel approaches to achieve functional cures for viral diseases such as HBV and HDV. This role involves rigorously testing promising therapeutic strategies to rapidly advance them to the clinic in a highly interactive and collaborative multi-disciplinary scientific environment.

Responsibilities:

• Design, validate, and perform virology, cell-based biochemical, and immunology assays
• Construct and propagate mutant viruses
• Evaluate EC50 of selected drug candidates against wild-type and mutant viruses
• Understand the mechanism of action (MOA) of lead compounds in clinical settings
• Interpret results, proactively troubleshoot technical challenges, and recommend potential solutions
• Plan and execute experiments that support research activities and project goals
• Clearly present results of work, interpret data, and draw conclusions

Requirements:

• BS/BA degree in Microbiology, Molecular and Cell Biology, Immunology, or other related life science discipline
• Minimum 4+ years of relevant experience
• Hands-on experience in one or more of the following techniques: primary cell isolation and culture, ELISA, molecular biology techniques (RNA/DNA isolation, qPCR, cloning), virus production, immune cell functional assays, and multi-color FACS
• Ability to process data and evaluate data quality, including recognizing anomalous and inconsistent results
• Creative and goal-oriented problem solver capable of working independently
• Mature organizational skills and strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams

Pay range: up to $58.04 per hour
