AboutThe Role
In this role you will build powerful tools that help product engineers iterate rapidly on the Agent experience and directly enhance the core Agent itself. The role blends systems engineering, developer experience, and product engineering: tackling complex challenges across the full stack—from browser‑based interfaces to high‑performance backends to Linux systems engineering. You’ll bridge the gap between the AI team (working on core Agent logic) and the UX team (crafting delightful Agent experiences), enabling both groups to excel.
YouWill
- Build high‑throughput backend applications and services, such as streaming chat between user and agent.
- Design a collaborative “Multiplayer Computer” that lets humans and AI agents work together on shared shells, file systems, and state—conflict‑free and in real time.
- Develop infrastructure (frontend and backend) that empowers product engineers to ship delightful user experiences quickly.
- Design and build durable, well‑crafted interfaces between the Agent and internal systems, as well as external agentic systems.
- 5+ years of professional experience building backend services, systems, and platforms.
- A focus on simplicity and pragmatism—thinking radically but shipping incrementally.
- Self‑directed and comfortable working autonomously.
- Collaborative and team‑oriented with a strong sense of shared ownership.
- Experience across the full stack.
- Experience building AI‑powered tooling or products.
- Experience with collaborative editing technologies such as Operational Transforms, CRDTs, or the inner workings of Git.
- Experience with event‑sourcing systems.
- Problem‑solving mindset: approaching complex operational challenges systematically to devise effective solutions.
- Self‑directed and autonomous: working independently while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
- Strong communication skills: explaining complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Continuous learning: staying current with industry best practices and new technologies.
- Focus on automation: building self‑healing systems and automating repetitive tasks.
This a full‑time role based in our Foster City, CA office. The hybrid schedule requires in‑office presence on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
