Base pay range$20.00/hr - $37.00/hr
About The PositionIn this position, you will apply your knowledge of the principles of electrical & control systems design to:
Responsibilities- Support a project Electrical & Control Systems Design Lead in developing industrial construction drawings, including single line diagrams, area classification diagrams, grounding, lighting, conduit/cable tray, schematics and wiring diagrams, cable/conduit schedules, installation details, PLC panel layout and I/O schematics, loop diagrams and control system architecture.
- Work in a team environment with electrical engineers and other disciplines (e.g., project management, piping, mechanical, civil, structural) to develop solutions to clients’ multi‑disciplined project needs.
- Perform site visits to gather field data and verify existing facilities and project requirements.
- Use software tools to perform design calculations such as cable tray sizing, conduit sizing, duct bank sizing, voltage drops, etc.
- Develop construction drawings and material requirements.
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects with various due dates; attend coordination and status meetings.
- Develop and maintain good professional relationships with clients.
- Support an Electrical & Control Systems Design Lead on large and complex projects.
- Attend island and on‑site coordination and status meetings.
Flexible 9/80 work schedule with a hybrid work location, supporting the Fountain Valley office.
Skill Requirements- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD.
- Desire and ability to learn new skills and assume greater responsibilities.
- Proficiency with additional 3D design software, including Civil 3D, Plant 3D and AVEVA E3D is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Micro Station is preferred.
- Working experience with electrical construction is preferred.
- General knowledge of the use of concrete and structural steel in the design of structures.
- Knowledge of seismic and wind design provisions in the IBC/CBC, ASCE 7, AISC and ACI codes.
- Ability to visit local project sites for data gathering and inspections with occasional travel to farther locations.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- 2+ years of experience in industrial electrical and/or control system design.
- Energy infrastructure experience is preferred.
- Engineering consulting experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with NEC and API 500 is preferred.
- Formal training in electrical and control system design is preferred. Trade school or associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
