- Act as an engineering lead on projects involving medium and low voltage power systems, grounding, lighting, instrumentation and control systems.
- Support client-focused activities such as business development and proposal preparation.
- Develop and mentor junior engineering and design staff.
- Prepare data sheets and specifications for electrical equipment for power distribution center (PDC), switch gear, transformer, motor control center (MCC), variable frequency drive (VFD), starter, control panel, etc.
- Perform electrical calculations such as short circuit, load flow, motor starting, relay coordination, arc flash study using ETAP or SKM software.
- Provide Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control for other engineers’ work product.
- Participate in startup, performance testing and troubleshooting.
- Participate in planning, cost control and scheduling for assigned projects.
- Develop and review TIC estimates.
- Maintain effective communication and relationships with project team members and clients, with a commitment to building enduring relationships leading to customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Prepare & issue RFQs, evaluate vendor’s quotations, clarifications, Technical Bid Analysis etc.
- Review vendor’s documents, drawings, datasheets, specifications and calculations.
- B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
- California Electrical Professional Engineer license is required.
- Minimum work experience of 15 years with at least 10 years in the utility or energy industries and 5 years of supervisory/management experience.
- Experience with field start-up and troubleshooting is required.
- Knowledge in electrical engineering and design, NEC and API 500 with working electrical construction experience is required.
- Experience in consulting (or EPC with Design & Engineering capability) is strongly preferred.
- Some electric utility experience is preferred.
- Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with clients and team members in both verbal and written form.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and Blue Beam is preferred.
- Familiarity with ETAP and/or SKM is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
- Working knowledge with instrumentation, programmable logic controllers (PLC) and distributed control systems (DCS)
