At Jacobs, we are passionate about infrastructure and water/wastewater projects. We are providing supplemental engineering services, including project management and construction management, commissioning oversight and support for a large wastewater infrastructure capital improvement program in Orange County, California. We are looking for a Project Manager to lead design and construction management teams for successful delivery of complex wastewater treatment plant and conveyance construction projects.

As a Project Manager, you will perform project management functions for major capital projects, including developing schedules, cost estimates and staffing requirements; assembling and leading project teams; planning, directing, and coordinating activities to ensure goals and objectives are accomplished on schedule and within prescribed budget. You will manage the selection of outside consultants and prepare and present reports on assigned projects.

You will manage a project or group of projects through all six phases of the Capital Project Management Life Cycle, including project development, preliminary design, construction and installation, commission, and closeout. You will direct and coordinate activities of the project team to progress the project(s) on schedule within prescribed budget, and with acceptable quality; confer with the project team to provide technical advice and resolve problems;

conduct project team meetings; conduct periodic reviews of work assignments; communicate with senior management, peers, project staff, consultants, customers, and users; and inform stakeholders of project status and possible outcomes.

Your duties include preparing project reports for management and others, including presentations; managing the selection of outside consultants; overseeing the bid, proposal, and selection/purchase recommendation process for major capital projects; soliciting and reviewing proposals; selecting consultants; establishing schedules and performance criteria; and working with consultants on project planning, preparation, scheduling, and execution of contracts, verifying work completion on time and in conformance with plans and specifications.

You will apply project management tools as required to address the financial aspects and impacts of project variables such as delays to the project schedule, and serve as the liaison for the project management division with other Owner departments, divisions, and outside agencies.

Here’s what you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License
  • 10+ years of experience as a Resident Engineer, Project Manager or Construction Manager in an Engineering, Environmental or Construction organization
  • Strong working knowledge of pre-design and pre-construction, building systems and technology, contract management, project delivery methods, team building and client relationship
  • Project Management Professional certificate is highly desirable.

The base salary range for this position is $ to $. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
