The ideal candidate will focus on the continuous development and enhancement of the product quality, performance, and customer satisfaction of new and current vehicles while leading the development of the tools required to diagnose and properly repair vehicles in the field related to engine management systems, including engine control units, emission control systems, battery and engine electrical systems. Responsible for validating product complaints, qualitative analysis, recalling and analysis of warranty parts and the reporting of any new and emerging as well as existing systematic product problems.

Responsible for the development of countermeasures for (a) field repairs and (b) production in coordination with HMC and affiliated groups. Responsible for timely distribution of all related technical service bulletins including recall campaigns. Secure actions and support to achieve the highest ranking of CSI(FRFT), CR, VDS, IQS and HVR third party surveys related to the vehicle systems under their responsibility.

Coordinate the collection and analysis of warranty return parts, dealer visits and on-car investigations to determine the cause of failure and initiate corrective action. Monitor the analysis of warranty and techline databases, customer surveys, warranty parts analyses and field service engineering reports on an ongoing basis to detect new systematic product issues and to gauge the effectiveness of countermeasures taken against known conditions.

Manage the development of field repair solutions and request the initiation of production changes as necessary. Manage the follow up of quality information reports in the CCC website system to ensure that timely action is taken. Manage the timely distribution of all technical service bulletins (including recall campaigns) to Hyundai/Genesis dealers. Ensure successful launches of new models and support of launch quality monitoring process.

Conduct labor time study (LTS) on new models to ensure fair/adequate repair time and procedure for dealers and HMC/HMMA. Coordinate and manage the monthly quality report development each month. Work closely and cooperatively with various groups throughout the organization (data analysis group, field service engineers, legal, consumer affairs, warranty, parts and techline group to communicate/interchange technical and service-related issues and resolutions.

Monitor and clearly identify J.D. Power IQS/VDS/CSI (FRFT) and CR reliability (durability) surveys liabilities and develop improvement and validation plans accordingly. Evaluate, troubleshoot and diagnose vehicle installed field failure parts (improved QIR problem definition) oversee development of required special service tools to assist dealers with vehicle repairs. Develop, support and conduct competitor benchmarking and customer preference studies. Conduct other tasks related to the purpose of this position as assigned or requested.

Issue quality information reports (QIR). Issue technical service bulletins (TSB). Issue dealer communication system messages (DCS). Provide technical support/direction to field staff, techline and various internal HMA/GMA groups.

Must be a high school graduate. Bachelor's degree in automotive engineering or related science. Master's degree in automotive engineering, or related science, preferred. Five or more years of professional experience is required. Automotive retail and wholesale experience preferred. Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
