Resident Engineer - Plant

At Jacobs, we are not just passionate about infrastructure and water/wastewater projects, we push the limits of what's possible to make the world smarter and more connected.  We are providing supplemental engineering services, including project management and construction management, and commissioning oversight to support a large wastewater infrastructure capital improvement program in Orange County, California.  We are looking for a Resident Engineer to lead construction management teams for successful delivery of complex wastewater treatment plant construction projects.

As a Resident Engineer, we need you to have ability to manage complex, technical engineering (wastewater/civil/mechanical/electrical/I&C) construction projects, lead construction project teams (Assistant REs, Inspectors, Schedulers, etc.); encourage a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with all departments; including stakeholders; lead project team in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost control, schedule control, change management, risk management, and performance; and identify problems, analyze information and develop sound recommendations.  

You will act as the primary project interface for the Owner, working with the Owner's Project Manager, designer, contractor, operations and maintenance, and will lead project meetings with contractor and stakeholders; and effectively delivering results in a timely manner.

In addition, you must be able to perform/manage diverse, large and complex assignments; lead and participate in the contract change process including receiving and responding to requests for information; develop and issue requests for proposals; receive and respond to requests for change; prepare engineer's estimates and records of negotiations; prepare and issue field change orders; review construction submittals and commissioning plans for compliance with the technical specifications;

ensure projects are constructed in compliance with contract documents; manage the project within budget and schedule; evaluate and mitigate time impacts; develop recommendations to project problems and issues during construction.  Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills with a strong background in engineering construction management for large capital wastewater infrastructure is essential.

You will develop a trusted relationship with the project team, contractor and with the client's staff. You will place an emphasis on safe construction practices (Beyond Zero) and on maintaining a high quality of construction. Lead by example and oversee safe practices on site.

* Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering

* 10+ years of experience as a Resident Engineer, Project Manager or Construction Manager in an Engineering, Environmental or Construction organization

* 10 + years of increasingly responsible work experience reviewing preliminary plans, designs, specifications, and estimates for wastewater treatment facilities, applying the knowledge of Construction Management of wastewater plant projects.

* 10+ years of construction management experience in the construction of new and/or rehabilitation of wastewater facilities and pipeline projects.

* Strong working knowledge of pre-design and pre-construction, building systems/components and technology, contract management, project delivery methods, team building and client relationship

* Must have valid drivers license with good driving history

Ideally You Will Also Have:

* Professional Engineer (PE) license or CCM
