Tactical Apparel Designer

We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Tactical Apparel Designer to oversee the full product development lifecycle for functional and performance-driven apparel, from initial concept through production. The ideal candidate combines strong aesthetic judgment with advanced knowledge of garment engineering, textile performance, material sourcing, pattern development, and fit.

• Conceptualize, design, and develop innovative functional and performance apparel.
• Create detailed design specifications, including technical drawings, material requirements, patterns, and manufacturing guidelines.
• Develop and refine prototypes using sewing, 3D modeling, 3D printing, laser cutting, and other fabrication techniques.
• Research, source, and procure appropriate fabrics, textiles, components, and other materials.
• Collaborate with manufacturers and production partners to ensure designs are cost-effective, manufacturable, durable, and performance-focused.
• Conduct user testing and gather feedback to improve product functionality, fit, quality, and overall user experience.
• Refine designs based on testing and feedback and prepare products for full-scale production.
• Create detailed design sketches, technical drawings, and production-ready documentation.
• Support the transition from prototype development to manufacturing while maintaining design intent and quality standards.
• Apply knowledge of garment construction, patterning, fitting, and textile performance throughout the development process.
• Contribute to eCommerce, digital merchandising, and online product presentation as needed.

• Experience designing and developing functional, technical, tactical, outdoor, performance, or specialty apparel.
• Strong understanding of garment engineering, construction, patterning, and fitting.
• Knowledge of technical textiles, performance materials, and material sourcing.
• Proficiency in fabrication and prototyping techniques.
• Ability to create detailed design sketches and technical drawings.
• Experience working with manufacturers and production partners.
• Strong understanding of product development from concept through production.
• Ability to balance aesthetics, functionality, durability, cost, and manufacturability.
• Experience or familiarity with eCommerce platforms, digital merchandising, and online product presentation.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
• Highly creative with strong attention to detail and quality.
