Job Overview
The Technical Training Manager is responsible for designing and delivering hands‑on and classroom training programs that ensure production personnel are properly trained, qualified where required, and aligned with ISC’s quality, safety, and operational standards. Training areas include IPC workmanship standards, Lean/5S fundamentals, Gemba practices, ESD handling, AS9100 quality awareness, manufacturing processes, and workplace safety. The Technical Training Manager reports to the Director of Quality and partners closely with the Director of Manufacturing and Director of Engineering to identify skill gaps, develop and deliver training programs, evaluate training effectiveness, and support continuous improvement across the manufacturing floor.
What You'll Do:
Training Delivery
- Design, develop, and deliver training programs in both classroom (theory) and shop floor (hands‑on) formats across all ISC facilities.
- Conduct new hire onboarding training covering workmanship standards, safety, quality expectations, and ISC-specific processes.
- Deliver recurring and refresher training to existing personnel based on certification schedules, quality data, and operational needs.
- Maintain a training calendar and coordinate scheduling with Manufacturing leadership to minimize production disruption.
- Adapt training delivery methods to meet diverse learning styles, including visual, hands‑on, and written formats.
- Track and maintain accurate training records and certifications for all personnel at all sites.
IPC Standards
- Deliver IPC workmanship training covering IPC-A-610 (Electronic Assemblies), IPC-A-620 (Cable & Wire Harness Assemblies), and IPC-7711/7721 (Rework & Repair) as applicable.
- Administer IPC certification testing and manage renewal schedules to keep the workforce in continuous compliance.
- Serve as the on-site IPC subject matter expert; resolve workmanship questions and support non‑conformance investigations.
- Collaborate with Quality to ensure training content aligns with customer‑specific requirements and AS9100 standards.
- Work toward or maintain IPCC Certified Trainer (CIT) credential.
Lean, 5S & Gemba
- Lead and facilitate 5S training and implementation across production areas at both sites; develop visual aids and standard work to sustain results.
- Conduct Gemba walk training for supervisors and leads, reinforcing daily management routines, problem identification, and waste elimination.
- Support Lean fundamentals training including flow, pull, standard work, and waste reduction concepts.
- Partner with Manufacturing leadership to build and sustain a continuous improvement mindset throughout the workforce.
- Document Lean training outcomes and track floor‑level improvements tied to training initiatives.
ESD, Quality & Safety Awareness
- Deliver ESD awareness and handling training; ensure all personnel working in ESD‑controlled areas are trained and compliant.
