Lead Access Control Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Lead Access Control Technician to support large-scale commercial security projects with a focus on delivering exceptional white glove service. This role is ideal for a highly skilled access control professional who can lead crews when needed while remaining hands-on in the field. The primary project will support a large prevailing wage installation for a public school district, with additional projects scheduled to follow.

This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering long-term career growth and ongoing training.

• Lead field technicians and provide guidance to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications.
• Install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and commission commercial access control systems.
• Install and terminate access control panels, field devices, and low-voltage cabling.
• Pull, route, dress, label, and terminate low-voltage cable, including CAT5e, CAT6, and security cabling.
• Install and configure access control hardware including door readers, electric strikes, maglocks, wireless locking hardware, intercoms, and associated devices.
• Install and troubleshoot CCTV cameras, NVRs, and related security equipment as needed.
• Program and commission access control and security systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and installation documentation.
• Build and organize security equipment racks and install cable pathways including J-hooks and D-rings.
• Perform system testing, quality assurance, and final commissioning.
• Train end users on system functionality upon project completion.
• Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, and customers to maintain project schedules and resolve field issues.
• Conduct jobsite safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards.
• Assist with material planning, labor forecasting, and field documentation, including change requests when necessary.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment while delivering exceptional customer service.

• 3-5 years of commercial access control door hardware installation experience.
• 5+ years of commercial low-voltage security installation experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading crews or serving as a lead technician on commercial security projects.
• Experience terminating access control panels and pulling low-voltage cable.
• Experience installing and troubleshooting commercial access control systems, CCTV systems, and related security equipment.
• Experience with Mercury controllers, wireless locks, 8400 relay boards, Schlage 1501/1502 devices, intercom systems, and associated access control hardware.
• Experience programming and commissioning commercial security platforms is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints.
• Working knowledge of IP networking, including switches, routers, and basic network troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• OSHA 10 Certification preferred.
• Scissor Lift and Boom Lift Certification preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, move up to 75 pounds, work on ladders and lifts, and remain on your feet throughout the workday.
• Must provide basic hand tools including screwdrivers, tape measure, snips, pliers, punch-down tool, flashlight, tool pouch, gloves, and steel or composite toe work boots.

• Prevailing wage compensation on qualifying projects, providing additional hourly earnings beyond the standard pay rate.

• Schedule:
  
  Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 4:00 PM.
• Local work throughout the Los Angeles and Orange County areas with no overnight travel required.
• Initial assignment supports a large-scale, approximately 700-door access control installation for a public school district, with additional projects to follow.
