Position: Driver-Ventura County

Work Shift

Monday‑Friday 5p‑11p;
Saturday 3p‑9p.

Target Pay

The Target Pay for this position is $20 an hour with $0.72/mile reimbursement while using your own personal vehicle. Pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job‑related skills, experience, education, training and budget.

Purpose of Job

The primary responsibility of the Driver is to safely and efficiently transport specimens from hospitals to the laboratory while providing superior customer support to our clientele.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Adhere to Driver and Safety Handbook policies and protocols.
  • Proper route preparation (coolers, icepacks, biopsy bags, vehicle checklist).
  • Timely delivery of client supplies and specimens to the appropriate destination.
  • Maintain specimen integrity at all times, including the utilization of specimen carry bag to transport specimens from client office/lock box to vehicle.
  • Efficient and timely completion of routes.
  • Follow route as scheduled/sequenced while allowing for special pick‑ups.
  • Use logistics software for route pick‑ups. The software may require data entry and photos to be taken to notify management of the lab pick‑ups or issues.
  • Responsible for operating your vehicle safely as well as maintaining a valid driver’s license and driving record within acceptable company guidelines.
  • Ensure route is started with proper equipment and tools, i.e., carry bag, coolers, cellphone, keys, door hangers, reports, etc.
  • Completion of late return form when A.T.A. exceeds E.T.A.
  • Completion and use of “We Were Here, But No Specimens Available” tags.
  • Courteous and professional interactions with clients.
  • All other reasonable duties requested by Supervisor.
  • Communicate with Transportation Supervisor on all issues that arise during a route.
  • Represent Antech in a positive manner at all times.
  • Responsible for compliance with all processes including and not limited to: timekeeping, attendance and punctuality, safety requirements.
  • Assist in other duties relevant to transportation services.

Education

/ Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

Required

Skills and Abilities
  • Must have at least 36 months of driving experience as evidenced by a current Motor Vehicle Report (“MVR”).
  • Good interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands
  • Prolonged standing/sitting/walking/driving.
  • Fine dexterity with hands/steadiness.
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds; may occasionally need to lift 40 pounds; carrying up to 15 pounds for several minutes at a time.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with clients, supervisors and peers.
  • Vision – requires constant mental visual attention to details as well as ability to see well in limited light scenarios.
  • Balancing.
  • Bending/kneeling.
  • Pushing/pulling.
  • Reaching/twisting.
Work Environment
  • Majority of time spent operating a motor vehicle.
  • Laboratory environment with potential biohazards present.
  • Works under close to moderate supervision with limited latitude for independent judgment.
  • Normally receives general instructions on routine work; detailed instructions on new assignments. Potential for exposure to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans and use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards. A complete list of such chemicals is available from department supervision.
