Building Supervisor (Custodial)
Fountain‑Fort Carson School District 8 seeks a Building Supervisor to oversee custodial staff and maintain the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of assigned buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Job GoalsResponsible for custodial staff supervision in your assigned building as well as overall cleanliness, sanitation, security, safety, and maintenance of facilities, grounds, and equipment. Manage schedules, inventory, expenditures, maintenance, seasonal projects, and building operations.
Essential Job Functions- Establish and maintain professional working relationships with school administration, teachers, staff, and students, and communicate with maintenance and custodial leadership.
- Ensure facilities are ready for students, staff, and visitors, including snow/ice removal, lighting, security, and door checks.
- Prepare and maintain cafeteria safety and cleanliness during all meal periods.
- Supervise, train, schedule, verify timesheets, enforce safety and cleaning standards, and maintain accurate records of staff, supplies, inventory, and budget.
- Maintain restrooms and respond to restocking and cleaning requests; manage plumbing and drainage issues.
- Conduct daily and periodic safety inspections of building systems, boilers, HVAC, and safety equipment.
- Perform minor repairs and coordinate maintenance requests with technicians and contractors.
- Carry out daily operational checks of lighting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and emergency response drills.
- Distribute supplies and support teacher requests for classroom materials.
- Respond to safety and security issues, including emergencies, alarms, or hazardous incidents during and after normal hours.
- Assist with setting up, break‑down, and clean‑up of school and community events.
- Maintain outdoor grounds, including weed control, tree trimming, lawn mowing, and graffiti removal.
- Prioritize tasks based on changing building needs and support staffing shortages and after‑hours activities.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, training, performance appraisal, and conflict resolution for custodial staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent vocational training in custodial work.
- More than three years of verifiable custodial experience.
- Minimum one year of verifiable supervisory experience (preferred).
- Criminal background check required for hire.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Colorado driver’s license.
- Knowledge of personal lifts, ladders, and custodial cleaning equipment.
- Experience with personal computers, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with HVAC, plumbing, and maintenance testing equipment.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools.
Building Supervisors are paid on the Classified Salary Schedule. FFC8 allows new hires to bring in up to 8 years of previous experience in similar settings; new hires typically start at the lower end of the salary range.
