The Village of Fox Lake (population 10,978) is located 55 miles northwest of downtown Chicago and 20 miles west of Waukegan, Illinois. Fox Lake is located in Lake and McHenry counties. The Village is located on the South Shore of Pistakee Lake, Nippersink Lake, and Fox Lake, three connected water bodies that form part of the Chain O’Lakes system. The Village of Fox Lake has a total area of 9.942 square miles of which around 20% is water.

- Provides effective and efficient customer services and promotes and maintains responsive community relations; handles questions from the public;
- Responds to FOIA Requests as directed;
- Processes reports, maintains files and statistics and serves as the clerk at local adjudication hearings;
- Maintains the confidentiality and integrity of the Chief of Police’s office;
- Complies with all safety procedures and policies of the Village, as well as other rules, procedures, and directives established by the Police Department;
- Performs related work as required;

Experience And EducationA High School diploma or equivalent is required. Vocational/technical training in Secretarial Science is desirable. A minimum of three (3) years of secretarial experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties is preferred. Requires a working knowledge of computers and data processing equipment (i.e., computer software programs such as those in a Microsoft Office environment).
Experience with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Tyler Technologies Systems or other records management software is desirable.
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug/alcohol screen following a conditional offer of employment. A thorough background investigation, including personal and professional references, criminal background and credit check will be conducted prior to an offer of employment.
Knowledge,Skills And Abilities
- Office practices and procedures.
- Principles and practices of bookkeeping.
- Clerical accounting practices.
- Intermediate computer operations, including Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with Freedom of Information Act and FOIA response.
- Operating standard office equipment and computer terminal sufficient to enter, retrieve and process data.
- Customer service and proper telephone etiquette.
- Communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interactions with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public, sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction.
- Operation of devices using alphanumeric keyboards.
