The Village of Fox Lake (population 10,978) is located 55 miles northwest of downtown Chicago and 20 miles west of Waukegan, Illinois. Fox Lake is located in Lake and McHenry counties. The Village is located on the South Shore of Pistakee Lake, Nippersink Lake, and Fox Lake, three connected water bodies that form part of the Chain O'Lakes system. The Village of Fox Lake has a total area of 9.942 square miles of which around 20% is water.

The Village of Fox Lake is seeking interested applicants for the position of Pretreatment Coordinator at the Northwest Regional Water Reclamation Facility.

The Pretreatment Coordinator provides direction and oversight to pretreatment department personnel and, upon establishment of the position, supervision of the Pretreatment Technician. This position is expected to perform field and technical duties as necessary while providing overall coordination and oversight of the department.

The Pretreatment Coordinator is responsible for administering, coordinating, and maintaining the NWRWRF's wastewater pretreatment, industrial user, sludge disposal, and odor control programs in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations. This position serves as the primary coordinator for the Village's pretreatment activities and is responsible for program planning, regulatory compliance, industrial user oversight, permitting, reporting, enforcement, recordkeeping, budgeting, and coordination with regulatory agencies, vendors, testing firms, sludge haulers, system users, and other stakeholders.

Reports to and works under the general direction of the NWRWRF Director.

• Coordinate and administer the Village's wastewater pretreatment program.
• Oversee the industrial user program, including inspections, sampling, permitting, monitoring, and compliance activities.
• Manage the Village's sludge disposal and odor control programs.
• Prepare regulatory reports, permits, enforcement documents, and other required documentation.
• Coordinate with IEPA, USEPA, and other regulatory agencies regarding compliance matters.
• Coordinate with industrial users, testing firms, sludge haulers, vendors, Health Departments, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate program records and documentation and assist with budgeting and departmental procedures.
• Provide direction and oversight to pretreatment personnel.
• Perform field inspections, sampling, testing, and other technical duties as needed.

BS in chemistry or biology is desirable or equivalent experience and knowledge in the field of wastewater treatment including mid-level wastewater certification (Illinois).

Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment physical/drug screen examination following a conditional employment offer. A thorough background investigation, including personal and professional references and criminal background will be conducted prior to offer of employment.

This position frequently interacts with regulatory agencies, citizens, and department personnel.
