About the Role:Ready to take the next step in your accounting career? This growing, pre-IPO company is looking for a motivated Staff Accountant who's eager to make an impact and build something long-term. Expect a close-knit, collaborative team, real support from day one, and a clear runway toward a future Senior Accountant role as you take on more. The position reports to an Accounting Manager and works closely with senior accountants, accounts payable, and treasury staff.
Responsibilities:- Support accounting activities across a group of retail businesses operating under shared ownership
- Compile financial reports and supporting schedules for review by leadership
- Support the accounting team throughout monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles
- Draft and post journal entries while keeping the general ledger current and accurate
- Examine financial data for errors and work to resolve any discrepancies found
- Perform reconciliations of bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and other general ledger accounts, including a full balance sheet reconciliation each month
- Carry out a monthly inventory reconciliation
- Provide backup support to the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed, including assistance with collections
- Record transactions and complete reconciliations involving foreign currency, when required
- Keep accounting records organized and in line with internal control standards and company policy
- Help prepare for audits and supply financial information as requested
- 1-3 years of experience as a Staff Accountant or in a related financial role
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, a related field, or equivalent experience
- Understanding of P&L statements and balance sheets
- Familiarity with general accounting principles and practices
- Experience with account reconciliations and journal entries
- Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP software
- Solid organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience with Net Suite or a similar ERP platform
- Highly motivated with a genuine interest in growing into a Senior Accountant role over time
