Bookkeeper/ Accounting Clerk
Job Description
Job Description
We are a growing personal injury law firm serving clients throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island seeking a dependable and highly organized Bookkeeper to join our team four days per week.
The primary focus of this position is accurate financial data entry and recordkeeping. You will enter expenses into Quick Books Online, pay and track bills, and record client-related case costs in Filevine, our practice-management system.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper who enjoys detail-oriented work, takes ownership of accuracy, and wants a stable schedule with a four-day workweek. A candidate who can also identify financial or operational improvements would have an opportunity to contribute beyond the position’s core responsibilities, but advanced financial-management experience is not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Enter firm expenses accurately and promptly into Quick Books Online
- Process and track accounts payable and vendor bills
- Maintain organized supporting documentation for transactions
- Enter and allocate client case costs in Filevine
- Ensure expenses and case costs are assigned to the correct accounts and matters
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit-card accounts
- Review financial records for missing, duplicate, or incorrectly categorized transactions
- Help maintain accurate vendor information and payment records
- Communicate with attorneys, staff, and vendors to resolve discrepancies
- Work closely with the Office Manager and Managing Attorney on financial recordkeeping and business operations
- Assist with reports and information requested by firm leadership, the firm’s accountant, or other financial advisors
- Help improve bookkeeping processes, documentation, and internal controls when appropriate
What We Are Looking For
- Prior bookkeeping or accounting-support experience
- Experience using Quick Books Online
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Excellent organizational and follow-through skills
- Ability to manage recurring responsibilities and meet deadlines without frequent supervision
- Good judgment when handling confidential financial and client information
- Comfortable working with technology and learning new software
- Clear and professional communication skills
- Ability to identify inconsistencies and ask questions rather than make assumptions
Preferred but Not Required
- Experience with Filevine or another legal practice-management system
- Bookkeeping experience in a law firm or professional-services business
- Familiarity with tracking reimbursable client or project costs
- Experience with accounts payable, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- An interest in helping leadership improve financial visibility or business operations
Schedule and Work Environment
- Four-day workweek
- Approximately 30–32 hours per week
- Regular daytime business hours
- Position based in our Foxborough office
- Consistent, predictable schedule
Compensation
Competitive hourly compensation based on experience.
What We Offer
- Direct access to firm leadership
- A high-performance, team-oriented environment
- Clear expectations and autonomy to execute
- Health insurance
- 401(k) with company match (after 1 year)
- Paid time off and holidays
- Hybrid work schedule potentially available once successfully established in role.
