Position Overview

Payroc is seeking a detail-oriented and service-driven Merchant Payroll Specialist to support our merchant clients with accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing. In this role, you will serve as a trusted partner to business owners, managing payroll data collection, calculating wages and deductions, processing garnishments, and ensuring all payroll information is entered and verified accurately using ADP and similar payroll platforms.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, client-facing environment and combines strong technical payroll knowledge with exceptional customer service skills. Your ability to navigate ADP systems, resolve client inquiries, and maintain precise payroll records will directly support regulatory compliance and reinforce the trust our merchants place in Payroc.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Daily communication with clients collecting their time sheet data and payroll information
  • Data Entry- insert payroll data collected by inputting text based and numerical information from source documents into online portals
  • Calculating wages, benefits, tax deductions, commissions, bonus payments, etc.
  • Processing child support, creditor, federal, state, and levy wage garnishments
  • Compile, and verify accuracy and sort information in order to properly process payroll for clients
  • Review data for inaccuracies and make corrections and verify output
  • Respond to queries for information and access relevant data for clients to provide further information as requested
  • General office duties including answering and transferring phone calls, filing, scanning, and attaching documents, sending emails
  • Complete documentation regarding the client payroll account into company database system (Excel and Salesforce)
  • Providing timely Quarterly and Year-End tax reports
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Assists with on-boarding accounts
  • Other projects and assignments as directed by management/executive team
Qualifications
  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred
  • Being able to clearly explain pay, tax, and deduction information (employee/employer)
  • Minimum of 1 year experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP/RUN, Gusto, Paychex) or similar required
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Extensive desk-based work involving prolonged periods using a computer and sitting for extended periods
  • Frequent interaction with team members, management, agents, Business Development Managers (BDMs), and external partners to facilitate smooth operations and collaborations
