Job Overview:

We are seeking our next Middle School Principal who shares an unwavering belief that education is a civil right and that every child can learn. They must be fair and firm in their leadership and in all aspects of their work, with a lens on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. A strong, competent educator and a strong leader and people manager are desired.

Reporting directly to the Director of Teaching and Learning, who is a district Executive Team member, the Middle School Principal is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and serves as the building administrator, leads the educational program for the FRCS Middle School, and represents the school to the community  principal supervises and partners with the Assistant Principals, who supervise student discipline, attendance, activities, and records.

The Assistant Principals also assist the principal in the daily operation of the school, and observe and evaluate a portion of the building staff. It is critical that the Principal has experience supervising individuals and teams, is exceptionally skilled at leading them, and can balance autonomy with accountability when managing others.

Job Responsibilities:

Instructional Leadership

* Serves as the instructional leader and drives teaching and learning aligned with best practices

* Manages daily school activities and personnel, including teachers and support staff

* Establishes class schedules and ensures they demonstrate a commitment to maximizing learning time in alignment with DESE requirements, and are ready and accurate each school year before students arrive

* Leads faculty to delivery of curriculum through age-, grade-, and culturally appropriate instructional strategies, serving the various learning styles and needs of FRCS students

* Supports implementation of MTSS by monitoring fidelity of implementation and working with culture and climate teams, including the guidance team, to identify and address barriers to implementation through regular teaming and problem-solving

* Collaborates with the Director of Teaching and Learning, the Curriculum Coordinator, the Director of Student Services, and other principals to ensure consistency and harmony in curriculum, instruction, and programming between schools.

* Facilitates the Instructional Leadership team, including supporting and directing the work of teacher leaders

* Oversees intervention programs and activities focused on closing the achievement gap

* Oversees student and family-focused social/emotional services and programs. Facilitates collaboration with adjustment counselors, guidance counselors, health, wellness, and disciplinary staff, and classroom staff to meet the social and emotional needs of all FRCS students.

* Stays abreast of processes related to 504 Plans and IEPs

* Collaborates with building staff and the Student Services Team to coordinate external services and programming, including DCF, community safety personnel, and first responders, to meet the needs of students and families
