The Role:

The Production Planner is responsible for developing, releasing, and maintaining the production schedule for the facility, converting customer demand into executable build plans that meet on-time delivery, quality, and cost objectives. This role balances customer orders, forecasts, plant capacity, labor, and material availability, and partners closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and Customer Service to keep the production plan realistic, current, and aligned with business priorities.

This position will report to the Vice President/General Manager MRG.This role is located on-site at MRG facility located in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, publish, and maintain the master production schedule, balancing customer demand, plant capacity, labor availability, and material supply.

Convert customer orders and forecasts into executable build plans, releasing work orders to the production floor with the correct quantities, routings, and due dates.

Analyze demand signals, order backlog, and inventory positions in the ERP/MRP system to determine material and labor requirements.

Plan and monitor raw material, component, and work-in-process inventory levels to support the schedule while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.

Coordinate with Purchasing and Supply Chain to expedite critical parts, resolve shortages, and confirm supplier delivery commitments.

Communicate schedule changes, priorities, and delivery risks to Operations, Engineering, Quality, Customer Service, and Sales.

Maintain planning parameters in the ERP system, including lead times, safety stock, lot sizes, and routings, and ensure planning data accuracy.

Monitor production progress against the schedule; identify bottlenecks, capacity constraints, and labor shortfalls, and re-sequence work to protect on-time delivery.

Track and report key planning metrics, including on-time delivery, schedule attainment, past-due backlog, inventory turns, and cycle time.

Support the sales, inventory, and operations planning (SIOP) process with capacity analysis, load projections, and demand reviews.

Partner with Engineering to assess the production impact of engineering change requests (ECR) and non-conformance reports (NCR) and manage the cutover of revised part numbers.

Coordinate the planning and staging of materials for new product launches, customer trials, and service or spare part orders.

Support physical inventory and cycle counting activities; investigate and correct inventory and transaction discrepancies.

Participate in continuous improvement and Lean initiatives to reduce lead time, setup time, and scrap.

Assist on the production floor when necessary to meet on-time delivery to customers.

Prepare production status, capacity, and delivery performance reports for the Vice President/General Manager MRG and plant leadership.

Monitor material shortages and communicate with purchasing.

Interface with production, quality, engineering, and shipping teams.

Update ERP/MRP systems with job status and inventory transactions.

Track on-time delivery and production performance metrics.

Assist with customer delivery commitments and expedite urgent orders.

Prepare production reports and management updates.

Help resolve production bottlenecks and scheduling conflicts.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience &

Skills:

Associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, operations, or a related field; equivalent manufacturing planning experience will be considered.
